Turn the physical

control room into a

virtual control room

The Virtual Control Room

All existing and physical control rooms have a common problem. They are local control rooms with local systems. They exist in local networks and use local sources of information. The way all these physical control rooms are set up, it is impossible to overview and control these control rooms and systems remotely because they are physically separated from each other and cannot share the information between them.

By connecting all the physical control rooms, systems, and information sources to a common and distributed virtual control room, endless possibilities opens up. To share and intrigue in the same system and the same sources of information. If an alarm goes off, an operator can partly shut down the affected local system but also contact personnel for the other systems that are indirectly affected.

With the virtual control room, collaboration and information sharing increases and thus we can increase the resilience of the communication process. Which is its ability to anticipate, endure and recover from unpredictable events.

Virtual control room
enables digital backbone

By connecting all information, control rooms and systems into a common virtual control room, different community services can collaborate in a completely new way through the exchange of information.

In the event of a crisis, decision-makers can get a quick overview of various events and base their decisions on updated facts from all social systems at the same time, efficiently allocate resources and provide accurate and up-to-date information to the media and citizens.

The virtual control room enables a multi-level governance model that paves the way for the digital backbone where different community services and the private sector can collaborate in a completely new way.

Through increased collaboration and information sharing, we can increase society's resilience. Which is its ability to anticipate, endure and recover from unpredictable events.

How it Works

The virtual control room consists of a common digital canvas surface where incoming information is visualized and distributed in real time to connected control rooms, workstations, or mobile devices.

Users can add information in real time to the surface, move, scale media objects contained in the surface. All changes are immediately displayed in all connected screens wherever the viewer is in the world.

The virtual control room has different levels of control models for incoming information sources as well as predetermined levels and control models for the type of outgoing information surfaces that are further distributed to screens.

Each decentralized virtual control room is its own microcloud with its own topology, which means that information streams can flow between different virtual control rooms. For example, you can distribute local IP cameras or local information sources between different virtual control rooms.

The virtual control room is a "cross network" system that enables public or private network solutions via mobile or fiber that can be mixed with each other in the "cross network" principle.

The virtual control room supports "any device". which means that all types of information sources or information screens are supported by the "any device" principle.

Think new
and different

Accessing PLAY-OUT's Virtual Control Room is easy. All that is needed is a computer with an internet connection and authorization.

No complicated applications need to be installed. The user logs in via their browser and directly accesses the service, sees direct status via the mode's interface image, can influence the content by simply manipulating the information streams. The solution enables multiple simultaneous users, in different locations in the world, who can share the same work window and information flows.

PLAY-OUT's Virtual Control Room is a flexible solution that creates a new functional way of working.

The solution is scalable with a versatile display technology that supports everything from individual screens to video walls of all sizes and can be easily expanded as needed.

Turn old physical control rooms into virtual control rooms

PLAY-OUT's Converter connects to the physical control room displays and mirrors the control room display signal to PLAY-OUT's STREAM ENGINE.

PLAY-OUT's STREAM ENGINE converts the control room display signals into a video stream that is distributed to the global virtual control rooms.

The local physical control room is visualized and monitored in real time. In the event of an incident, the physical system immediately alerts the virtual control room, allowing the global user to perform a remote action in the physical control room.
